Iyengar yoga was created and named after yogi B K S Iyengar, and is a form of Hatha Yoga. Iyengar yoga emphasizes precision and control to achieve the different asanas (poses). The instructors use their understanding of body musculature and body mechanics, and often incorporate props such as blocks, belts and blankets into the classes, to enable students of all levels and capabilities to achieve the correct postures.
